Take a moment to reflect. When do you use the word "different”? When do you use the word "unique"?I realized that I tend to use the word "different" when there is something to compare, even if it is implicit, such as what we have already "normalized" in our lives. That brings my attention to what I and society call normal. I use the word unique when it does not make sense to compare. It has a purpose and is not placed in the margins (although it could be), but it is an integral part of the mainstream. It makes me think about the impact of the language we use.
