Sometimes we get stuck on our path, and it gets worse when you know that there is no way back. The other day, as Spring welcomes us outdoors, I observed my daughters explore a short trail that was new to them. They had to stay in line, waiting and respecting the pace of the person in front, which happened to be the youngest one of the group. She suddenly stopped, and everyone stopped. It looked like she was stuck, considering the possibilities of another step and not finding one. She looked around like she was looking for help and said to her sisters, "I can't!". Now we knew she was stuck, and she kept looking at the water ( - the path was next to a water stream - ) as if she was considering a way to take into the water. Then I heard one of her sister saying, "You can do it! Look, you can put your foot on that stone over there." That was it! She was back on the path! This week, partnering with a client of mine, stuckness had a different "shape" (if we could give stuckness a form). In her case, she felt stuck because she had too many options. Overwhelmed. that was the word. Whether we are eliminating options or exploring alternate ways of moving forward, we tend to feel unstuck when we move, taking one step at a time.
